The lexicon

The vocabulary of cultural intelligence.

Culturas is a cultural intelligence company. It reads the public social internet — video, posts, images, comments and conversation — and structures it into the CultureGraph: a cultural data layer that shows how communities form, what earns their trust, and where behaviour is moving next.

This page is the reference for every term used across the site. Each definition is written to be quoted: short enough to repeat, precise enough to argue with.

Structure

The objects. What Culturas builds and what it delivers on.

Cultural data layer

A structured layer of shared human meaning that sits underneath behaviour data and explains it.

Analytics records what happened. The cultural data layer records why it was possible: who a person counts themselves among, what the group repeats, which words mark membership, who gets believed. It is the missing layer between raw platform signal and a decision a team can defend.

CultureGraph™

Culturas' proprietary graph of communities, rituals, language and trust, connected by shared meaning rather than demographics.

The CultureGraph places every observed signal on shared axes, so positions can connect. Shared ritual, shared language and shared trust each become an edge, and a scatter of posts becomes a navigable structure — the same structure every Culturas read, model and workflow is built on.

Fly the CultureGraph
Culturegraphic™

A single cultural world resolved out of the graph: its people, rituals, language, trusted voices and direction of travel.

Where a demographic describes who someone is on paper, a culturegraphic describes the world they participate in. It is the unit of analysis Culturas delivers on: one cluster, fully characterised, with the evidence that produced it and the motion it is under.

Layers

The reading. The seven layers every culturegraphic is resolved through.

Belonging

Who a person counts themselves among — the group before the demographic.

The first layer of the cultural data layer. Belonging is self-assigned and often invisible to targeting: it explains why two people with identical profiles respond to the same message in opposite directions.

The seven layers
Ritual

The repeated behaviour that holds a group together: when, where, how often.

Rituals are the most reliable evidence a culture exists. They are observable, dated and countable, which makes them the backbone of a defensible cultural read.

The seven layers
Language

The words, references and in-jokes that mark who is inside a world.

Language is the membership test. It moves faster than any other layer, which is why it is the earliest usable indicator that a culture is forming, splitting or being absorbed by the mainstream.

The seven layers
Meaning

What the behaviour is actually for — the value being expressed underneath it.

Two communities can perform the same act for opposite reasons. Meaning is the layer that stops a brand from copying a behaviour while contradicting the value it carries.

The seven layers
Trust

Who gets believed: the voices, sources and peers that carry weight in a culture.

Trust is distributed unevenly and rarely matches follower counts. Mapping it is how Culturas separates reach from credibility in creator, media and message decisions.

The seven layers
Altitude

How wide a pattern reaches — one scene, one city, one country, the world.

Altitude prevents the most common misread in cultural work: treating a local scene as a global shift, or dismissing a global shift because it looks small in one market.

The seven layers
Motion

Where a culture is heading — direction and speed, so you can act before it is obvious.

Motion is the layer that makes the read commercially useful. Signal appears, a community adopts, language settles, behaviour normalises, the market follows; Culturas works from the left of that line.

The seven layers

Practice

The work. How the structure becomes a decision.

Culturegraphic intelligence™

Decision intelligence produced by reading culturegraphics instead of segments.

Culturegraphic intelligence answers category, product, media and portfolio questions from the structure of culture: which worlds matter to this decision, what each one believes, who carries trust inside it, and how quickly it is moving.

Enterprise culturegraphic intelligence
CultureAI™

The Culturas platform layer that turns the CultureGraph into workflows, forecasts and answers.

CultureAI is where the graph becomes usable: emerging demand, distinct audience cultures, message guidance and forecast motion, delivered through five workflows — Today, Cultures, Predict, Act and Depth — plus a Co-pilot that traces every answer back to observed signal.

Cultural fluency

The ability to act correctly inside a culture you are not from, because you can read it.

Fluency is the outcome, not the dataset. A fluent team knows which ritual to respect, which language to borrow, which creator actually carries trust, and which assumption in the brief is about to age badly.
