For Foundations, Institutions, NGOs & Public-Interest Work

Steward the Story.

Public-interest work depends on trust. But trust is shaped inside cultures — the stories people believe, the communities they listen to, and the language they recognize.

Culturas helps teams understand that context before they design programs, fund initiatives, or communicate with communities.

The living pulse

Five billion expressions a day. Every one of them is data about what your communities value.

Digital anthropology and graph intelligence turn raw social signal into a living instrument — the pulse you read before you decide which story to steward.

From particle to planet

One expression is noise. A billion, structured, is a world you can read.

Scroll: the dust of individual signal resolves into a planet, and the culturegraph settles over it.

The discipline — digital anthropology

What is digital anthropology?

The study of human culture as it is actually lived online — the values, rituals, languages and belief systems that form inside digital communities.

It treats a comment thread, a creator format or a niche subculture the way a field anthropologist treats a village, a ceremony or a kinship structure: as a real social world with its own logic. The culturegraph is the instrument of that discipline — a continuous, structured record of it.

What we do

From live culture to communication that lands.

Three steps that turn the signals in your communities into strategy your team can deploy.

01

Map your cultural landscape

We index billions of public expressions into a live map of the values, narratives, and tensions shaping your target communities — across languages, platforms, and regions.

02

Diagnose and align communication

Cultural graphics translate that map into messaging strategy: what resonates, what builds trust, what language bridges difference, and what risks to avoid before launch.

03

Deploy with measurable impact

Partner teams use Foundation outputs to launch culturally precise campaigns, informed briefs, and communication that works across regions, demographics, and contexts.

Interlude — cultural depth

Culture has strata.

Most measurement stops at the rim. Anthropology reads inward — from trends, through rituals and narratives, down to values and worldview. Each ring moves at its own speed.

The three pillars

Research. Framework. Stewardship.

Three interconnected disciplines that give you a complete cultural intelligence capability.

Research

Continuous field methods that give your team a live picture of what communities value, how meaning shifts, and which narratives are gaining ground in your domain.

Framework

A structured vocabulary for reading culture across contexts — so your team can interpret what is forming in the communities you serve and act on it with confidence.

Stewardship

Governance practices that keep cultural intelligence in service of people — so your communications earn trust rather than erode it in the communities you depend on.

The Cultural Intelligence Graph

Everything that moves culture, mapped.

The Cultural Intelligence Graph tracks the values, emotions, narratives, hooks, formats, and symbols that make content travel across every subculture, demographic, and market. Live. Continuously updated. Yours to navigate.

Why now

Culture is visible at planetary scale for the first time.

Billions of expressions are recorded publicly every day. Institutions feel culture shifting but lack the methods to interpret what those shifts mean. The Foundation builds that capacity.

01

Culture is now infrastructure

It shapes what billions believe, imitate, reward, and reject. It is the active medium of collective life.

02

Volume is available. Interpretation is the gap.

Surveys, dashboards, and trend reports measure what happened. The Foundation builds the methods that explain why content resonates, why narratives spread, and why cultures shift.

03

The cost of misreading compounds

Education, governance, media, and public communication land better when they track how culture actually moves.

The direction — protopia

Not utopia. Not collapse. A better tomorrow than today.

Stewarding the story means moving culture toward a protopic future — one where each year is measurably more humane than the last, and where technology is used symbiotically with human life rather than extractively against it.

That is the standard we hold our own infrastructure to. A new story for humankind is not written by prediction engines. It is written by people, with better instruments for understanding one another.

Human × technology
Extractive

Culture treated as raw material — harvested, scored, sold back to the people it came from.

Symbiotic

Culture treated as a commons — read with consent, structured in the open, returned as understanding.

The standard — ethical intelligence

Reading culture is a responsibility, not a permission.

Media, algorithms, attention and sense-making now shape how the human species understands itself. Anyone building instruments in that layer is holding something heavier than a product.

These four commitments govern the CultureGraph — the Foundation exists in part to keep us accountable to them in public.

Recommendation systems now set the pace of public life. We read what those systems produce, but we never build tools whose value depends on capturing more of a person's day.

We do not optimise for engagement — ours or our clients'.

Public-interest work often fails when it mistakes concern for action. Cultural intelligence reveals the gap between what people care about and what they feel able to do.

Why the graph matters

AI models are strong at meaning. They fail at the living record.

A model can sound confident while missing the people, communities, creators, language, and scale that define a culture right now. Culturas grounds interpretation in the living record.

Who this serves

For organisations whose impact depends on reaching the right people.

The Foundation works with NGOs, nonprofits, institutions, and researchers who need cultural intelligence to communicate effectively, build trust, and create real change in the communities they serve.

A call to academic institutions

Let’s steward the story together.

We are forming a coalition — a standing board of researchers, institutions, NGOs, foundations and community partners who hold the questions that no single organisation can answer alone. If your department works in these fields, we are looking for you.

Digital media studies

Platform logics, format evolution, attention economies, and how media environments shape public life.

Digital anthropology

Online communities as real social worlds — kinship, ritual, status, and meaning-making native to the network.

Cultural anthropology

Values, symbols, and belief systems across societies, and the long arcs of change beneath them.

A multi-stakeholder table, with real resources on it.

Not an advisory logo wall. A working coalition with tools, access, and shared governance over how the cultural record is read and used.

Open to universities, labs, and independent researchers worldwide

Collaborative intelligence

Complex social questions need more than data.

Culturas provides the cultural intelligence layer that strategy and creative partners can translate into research, narratives, programs, campaigns, and public-facing work.

Start with the cultural question in front of you

Bring cultural context to the decisions that shape trust.

Tell us the issue, community, region, narrative, movement, program, or public question your team is working on — or ask about joining the research coalition. Every engagement is held to the same standard: digital anthropology done in the open, in service of a protopic story where technology works with human life, not against it.
